Developing a frame work for evolving HIV/AIDS policy at LSG level

The local government system in Kerala is very strong and has emerged as a model for other Indian states. The experience of Kerala in formulation and implementation of micro level plans have produced remarkable changes in local development and in public management of local governments. Realizing this fact, for effective implementation of HIV/AIDS mainstreaming programmes, Kerala State AIDS Control Society has decided for mainstreaming programmes for LSGs with the support of KILA. SOMA provides technical support to the programme.
The Objectives of evolving HIV/AIDS Policy frame work are:
To identify the barriers and issues towards the implementation of HIV/AIDS programmes at LSG level.
To develop a LSG level policy for the effective implementation of HIV/AIDS response.
To develop a frame work for planning and setting up HIV responses at LSG level
Workshop on developing HIV Policy Frame work
Under this context a one-day workshop to finalize methodology for HIV/AIDS policy framework development at LSG level was organized on 25th February 2010 at KILA. The workshop was jointly organized by KILA, KSACS and SOMA. The Proceedings of the Workshop is given as annexure.
